Treatment of adiposogenital dystrophy can very expensive, with hormone replacement and surgery costing tens of thousands of dollars per year.

Cost-effectiveness of therapy

The cost of treatment of adiposogenital dystrophy can be a financial strain. Hormone replacement can cost tens of thousands per year. For example, the cost of growth hormone replacement can be $20000 or more per year^[1]. Surgical treatment is also in the tens of thousands of dollars. Average cost of a full surgical day for intracranial tumor resection in the pediatric population was $15905 in 2014. This excluded cost for in-patient stay and other expenses^[2].
