Overview
Other diagnostic studies for ameloblastoma include incisional biopsy and fine needle aspiration cytology. Fine needle aspiration cytology is diagnostic of ameloblastoma.
Other Diagnostic Studies
Incisional biopsy and fine needle aspiration cytology may be helpful in the diagnosis of ameloblastoma. Findings diagnostic of ameloblastoma include:[1][2][3]
- Palisading arrangement of ameloblast like epithelial cells
- Stellate reticulum-like cells
- Clusters of epithelioid hyperchromatic cells
- Keratohyalin granules and whorls
- Scattered larger cells with more open chromatin
- High mitotic/karyorrhexis index
- Polygonal squamous epithelial cells
