Overview

The incidence of follicular thyroid cancer increases with age; the median age at diagnosis is 6th to 7th decades. Females are more commonly affected with anaplastic thyroid cancer than males.

Age

  • Anaplastic thyroid cancer typically occurs in the elderly (peak incidence in 6th to 7th decades).[1]

Gender

  • Females are more affected with anaplastic thyroid cancer than males.
  • The female to male ratio is approximately 1.5 to 1.[2]
