There is no routinely diagnositic studies for atopic dermatitis, but in selected patients to rule out other skin conditions, histology examination of a skin biopsy and other laboratory tests (eg, serum immunoglobulin E, potassium hydroxide preparation, patch testing, genetic testing) can be considered
