Overview

Cataract surgery is a highly cost-effective medical intervention, producing substantial improvements in visual function, quality of life, and functional independence relative to its cost.[1] Because cataract extraction is typically performed as an outpatient procedure with rapid visual recovery, indirect costs related to hospitalization, prolonged disability, and loss of productivity are minimal.[1]
