Overview

Mucopurulent cervicitis is often asymptomatic,[1][2] however, some patients may present with abnormal vaginal discharge, painful sexual intercourse and intermenstrual vaginal bleeding.[3][4]

History and Symptoms

Mucopurulent cervicitis is often asymptomatic,[1][2] however, some patients may present with abnormal vaginal discharge, painful sexual intercourse and intermenstrual vaginal bleeding detailed below.[3][4]

  • Abnormal vaginal bleeding
    • After intercourse
    • After menopause
    • Between periods
  • Abnormal vaginal discharge
    • Gray, white, or yellow color
    • May have an odor
  • Painful sexual intercourse
  • Pain in the vagina
  • Pressure or heaviness in the pelvis
