Lung pathologies usually cause hypoxia and confusion if left untreated. A chest x ray is the most important tool to evaluate such conditions. It can be very helpful in identifying various lung lesions and infections.

Lung pathologies like respiratory failure, respiratory depression, and infections are one of the main causes of confusion. A chest x ray aids in the diagnosis of these conditions. It is useful to identify co morbid condition even if the cause of confusion is not primarily from the lung. It has a significant role to play in elderly individuals admitted to the hospital.
