Overview

Various heart conditions can cause hypoperfusion of the brain. This hypoperfusion can be a cause of confusion. An electrocardiogram can help to identify any associated heart conduction problems, which helps in the diagnosis.

Electrocardiogram

Hypoxia of the brain can cause confusion. At times, confusion can result from inadequate perfusion of the brain tissue due to cardiac dysfunction. An electrocardiogram will be of great use to evaluate the underlying heart conditions. Certain conditions like MI and heart blocks can cause poor perfusion. Atrial arrythymias such as atrial flutters and atrial fibrillations may cause a decrease in the perfusion of various tissues.
