Overview

Breast mammogram may be helpful in the diagnosis of fibroadenoma. On breast mammogram, fibroadenomas appear homogeneous with well circumscribed nodules.

Other Imaging Findings

Mammography

  • Homogenous and well circumscribed nodules with smooth round edges
  • Isodence or hypodense compared to normal breast glandular tissue
  • Partially obscured margins or macrolobulation
  • Inner coarse calcification are often observed (mostly in postmenopausal women)
  • It is not recommended for use in women <30 years because of the density of the breast tissue in this population.[3]
