Overview

Bronchioalveolar lavage and surgical lung biopsy can be helpful in diagnosing other diseases that causing diffuse alveolar damage that present same as acute interstitial pneumonitis.

Bronchoalveolar lavage^[1]
- Bronchoalveolar lavage can be helpful in obtaining tissue fragments for cultures, for the assessment of diffuse alveolar hemorrhage and for the assessment of cellular differentials.
Surgical lung biopsy:^[2]
- The gold standard for diagnosis is surgical lung biopsy.
