Overview

Brain MRI may be helpful in the diagnosis of pathological changes in patients with CNS complications like seizures, AMS, visual changes or others in patients of HUS. Findings on MRI may include basal ganglia, brainstem, cerebellar or thalamic lesions.

MRI

Brain MRI may be helpful in the diagnosis of pathological changes in patients with CNS complications like seizures, AMS, visual changes or others in patients of HUS. Findings on MRI may include any of these^[1]:

Basal ganglia lesions particularly in dorsolateral portion of the lentiform nucleus
Thalamic changes
Brain stem lesions
Cerebellar changes
Cerebral edema
