Other diagnostic studies for Kaposi’s sarcoma include endoscopy, bronchoscopy, and biopsy.

Bronchoscopy

Endoscopy

Biopsy

• The definitive diagnosis of Kaposi’s sarcoma is confirmed by a biopsy. Characteristic findings for Kaposi’s sarcoma on microscopic histopathological analysis can be found here.^[1]

T cell subset analysis

• This is especially useful for assessing CD4 T cell count, since this parameter is important for staging in the TIS staging system. It provides information about the immune competence of a patient. T cell subsets may need to be monitored during treatment. Disease can relapse even in the presence of normal CD4 T cell counts.
