Methyl nitrite
The chemical compound methyl nitrite is an alkyl nitrite made from methanol. Synonyms for methyl nitrite include:
- Methyl alcohol nitrite
- Nitrous acid, methyl ester
- Nitramethyl
This compound is produced by the combustion of unleaded petrol, and may be a cause of the decline of the House Sparrow in Europe.[1]
