Overview

Papular purpuric gloves and socks syndrome (PPGSS) is an uncommon cutaneous condition with a typical purpuric exanthem limited to hands and feet.

  • PPGSS occurs primarily in teenagers and young adults.

Natural History, Complications and Prognosis

  • Rash and fever completely resolved in less than 3 days.
  • The disease has a short course and a benign prognosis.

Laboratory Findings

  • All laboratory tests are normal.
  • Positive serology for Parvovirus B19. IgM is positive but not IgG.[3]
  • Viral DNA test to detect the virus.
