Surgical intervention is a consideration in the management of polycythemia vera in case of splenomegaly, though surgery is not typically done.

Surgical intervention is recommended for the management of polycythemia vera in case of splenomegaly. ^[1] There is no other role for surgery in the treatment of this disease.
