Editor-In-Chief: C. Michael Gibson, M.S., M.D. [1]; Mugilan Poongkunran M.B.B.S [2]

Overview

Most patients with premature atrial contraction are asymptomatic. Rarely they present with palpitation and complications.

History and Symptoms

  • Premature atrial contraction (PACs) is the most common form of supraventricular arrhythmia. Most patients are asymptomatic.
  • Premature atrial contraction is rarely associated with severe symptoms and palpitation is the only complaint in most of the cases.
  • Rarely patients may present with exercise intolerance and fatigue due to bradycardia caused by blocked PACs.
