Editor-In-Chief: C. Michael Gibson, M.S., M.D. [1]Associate Editor(s)-in-Chief: Sujit Routray, M.D. [2]

Overview

Other diagnostic studies for seminoma include biopsy, FDG-PET scan, and bone scan.[1]

Other Diagnostic Studies

Biopsy

Other diagnostic studies for seminoma include biopsy. Histopathological findings on biopsy can be found here.[1]

Positron Emission Tomography

FDG-PET scan is less sensitive in initial staging of seminoma than CT. Usually, PET scan is only used following treatment of seminoma to look for any metabolic activity within residual lymphadenopathy or extranodal metastases.[2]

Bone Scan

Bone scan may be performed to detect metastases of seminoma to the bones.[3]
