Sinusoidal obstruction syndrome echocardiography or ultrasound

Overview

Ultrasound can be helpful in the diagnosis of sinusoidal obstruction syndrome. Common findings on ultrasound may include: hepatomegaly, heterogeneous echotexture and abnormal portal vein waveform.

Ultrasound

Ultrasound can be abnormal in sinusoidal obstruction syndrome but it is not diagnostic.^[1]^[2]

Findings on an ultrasound suggestive of sinusoidal obstruction syndrome include :
- Hepatomegaly
- Splenomegaly
- Heterogeneous echotexture
- Presence of ascites
- Abnormal portal vein waveform
- Thickening of the gallbladder wall
