There are no CT scan findings associated with thrombotic thrombocytopenic purpura. However, brain CT scan may be helpful in the diagnosis of complications of thrombotic thrombocytopenic purpura.

• Brain CT scan may be helpful in the diagnosis of thrombotic thrombocytopenic purpura]. Findings on CT scan suggestive of thrombotic thrombocytopenic purpura include:^[1]
  • Acute small infarcts
  • Bleeding
  • White matter changes
  • Posterior reversible encephalopathy syndrome (PRES)
• Neuroimaging may also be useful in detecting the severity of CNS manifestations as well as pathological changes occuring in the brain.
