Tibial plateau fracture laboratory findings

There is a limited role for laboratory tests in the diagnosis of tibial plateau fracture; however, elderly women may have some abnormal laboratory findings suggestive of osteoporosis.

• There is a limited role for laboratory tests in the diagnosis of tibial plateau fracture.
• Post menopausal women over 65 years may have some abnormal laboratory findings suggestive of osteoporosis.
• Laboratory tests for the diagnosis of osteoporosis include:
  • Complete blood count (CBC)
  • Serum calcium
  • Serum phosphate
  • Serum alkaline phosphatase
  • Serum 25-(OH)-vitamin D
