Overview

Ultrasonography may help in diagnosing complications of typhoid fever and differentiate it from other diseases presenting with similar symptomatology.[1][2][3][4]

Ultrasound

Ultrasonography may help in diagnosing complications of typhoid fever and differentiate it from other diseases presenting with similar symptomatology. Complications which may be diagnosed with ultrasound inclulde:[1][2][3]

  • Intestinal perforation (pneumoperitonium)
  • Splenic abcess
  • Acute acalculus cholecystitis[4]
    • Chronic cholecystitis (chronic carrier state)
