Afterhyperpolarization
Introduction
Afterhyperpolarization describes the part of an inactivation phase of an action potential where the membrane falls below the normal resting potential. Both medium and slow afterhyperpolarization currents (mIAHP and sIAHP, respectively) can be demonstrated in neurones [1]. The SK Channel is the major mediator of AHP currents, although other candidate mediators have been suggested.
