- Electroencephalograms (EEGs) are abnormal in most patients, exhibiting generic slowness and background disarray activity. These findings may be linked to electrographic seizures, which are more prevalent in the earliest stages of the disease. Slow, continuous, delta, or theta rhythmic activity predominates throughout the catatonic period.
