- The development of basal cell carcinoma can be prevented by the following:[1][2][3]
- Avoid the sun, especially around the peak intensity of the midday sun
- Use sunscreen year-round
- Wear protective clothing
- Avoid tanning beds
- Be aware of any skin changes
- Wear sunglasses to protect the eyes and the skin around them from UV rays
- Wear a hat that protects the face, neck, and ears
