Editor-In-Chief: C. Michael Gibson, M.S., M.D. [1]

Overview

Overview

Bile plug syndrome is a correctable cause of obstructive jaundice in infants. In this syndrome, the extra-hepatic biliary system is obstructed by the impacted inspissated bile. It should be differentiated from Biliary atresia and choledochal cysts by surgical exploration and transcholecystic cholangiography.
