Pharmacotherapy
The treatment generally depends upon the cause of the blind loop syndrome.
- Patients need to be resuscitated , whenever there is malnutrition.
- The initial pharmacotherapy is with antibiotics– especially Rifaximin , neomycin for 14 days.
- Vit B12 supplementation
- Sometimes, blind loop cannot be reversed completely, in these cases, treatment is focused on correcting nutritional deficiencies and eliminating bacterial overgrowth by treating with antibiotics.
