Diabetes mellitus type 2 MRI

Overview

There are no specific MRI findings associated with diabetes mellitus. Nevertheless there are some data supporting pancreatic changes or hippocampal and amygdalar atrophy on MRI.

MRI Findings for Diabetes Mellitus Type 2

Study on diabetic patients shows that there is a pancreatic size difference between diabetic patients and normal population, based on MRI findings.^[1]
Brain MRI of diabetic patients demonstrated hippocampal and amygdalar atrophy on MRI, compared to non-diabetics.^[2]
