Overview

Overview

Apart from all the laboratory tests, imaging studies and assessments a few other tests like spinal tap and evoked potentials are present. These help in differentiating a few brain lesions like infections and in detection of the subclinical encephalopathy.[1]

Other diagnostic studies

Other diagnostic studies

Spinal tap

  • Identification of infections
  • Identification of intra ventricular bleed
  • Cerebrospinal fluid for analysis
  • Identification of antibodies in cases of autoimmune conditions

Evoked potentials

  • These are the electrical recordings that detect the intrinsic activity of the brain.
  • The electric activity is recorded basing upon the stimuli.
  • P300 is a sensitive to brain function and can detect subclinical hepatic encephalopathy[1]
