End-stage disease

An end-stage disease is when an organ or disease is at its very worst condition. When this happens, the organ is barely functioning. An example would be someone with a heart in an end-stage disease. The organ has been irreversibly and extensively damaged. This results in some very serious and permanent symptoms.
