A CT scan is not the most sensitive non-invasive method for the diagnosis of endometriosis. MRI is preferred over CT. On a CT scan, endometriosis shows catamenial pneumothorax, hemothorax, and lung nodules.

A CT scan is not the most sensitive non-invasive method for the diagnosis of endometriosis. MRI is preferred over CT. On a CT scan, endometriosis shows catamenial pneumothorax, hemothorax, and lung nodules. Evidence syntheses evaluating noninvasive imaging for endometriosis include MRI, nuclear medicine imaging, and computed tomography; however, the diagnostic performance emphasized in this review supports MRI and ultrasound-based approaches for pelvic disease assessment.[1]
