Overview
Overview
First degree AV block may be an incidental finding on an routine ECG. General assessment about signs of underlying cardiac disease including auscultation for murmurs or additional heart sounds, assessment of JVD, peripheral edema, evaluation of skin about cyanosis, clubbing, or other signs of cardiac disease is warranted.
Physical Examination
Physical Examination
- There are no specific physical exam findings associated with First-degree AV block. However, in patients with prolonged PR interval greater than 300 ms exacerbation of heart failure disease may be present due to non-synchronized ventricular and atrial systole and poor ventricular filling resulting mitral regurgitation.
