Secondary Prevention

  • If the patient has low blood pressure, certain steps to prevent or reduce the symptoms are possible. These may include:
  • Avoiding alcohol
  • Avoiding standing for a long time (if the patient has neurally mediated hypotension)
  • Drinking plenty of fluids
  • Getting up slowly after sitting or lying down
  • Using compression stockings to increase blood pressure in the legs
