Infertility may present with many symptoms, depending on the cause of infertility such as oligomenorrhea, hirsutism, etc. In some cases women might not have any symptoms/complaints other than the inability to conceive.

History and Symptoms
- The main symptom of infertility is the inability to become pregnant. Specific symptoms depend on what is causing the infertility.[1][2]
- Some women may have a history of oligomenorrhea, polymenorrhea or amenorrhea.
- Women who are infertile as a result of PCOS may have symptoms of dysmenorrhea, irregular periods, acne, hirsutism, weight gain etc.
- Infertility can cause many painful emotions in one or both partners.
Specific questions which can be asked in history
- History of abdominal or pelvic surgery
- History of contraceptive use
- History of exposure to diethylstilbestrol
- History of sexually transmitted infections in either partner
