Adequate preventive measures must be implemented to curtail the spread of Lassa fever. Cost effective therapy if was properly implemented 5 decades ago in Lassa would have prevented devastating consequences of the disease pervading now.

- Cost effective therapy would encourage the patient to seek medical care immediately if they suspect illness especially in the lower economic strata.
- Other ways of cost effective management of Lassa fever include the following:
- Effective rodent control.
- Prompt isolation of the patient.
- Proposed vaccinations for visitors from the United Nations, non-governmental organisations, and business communities to the endemic areas.[1]
