Surgery

Surgical removal of lipoma is indicated in case of:^[1]^[2]
- Cosmetic problem
- Concerns over the diagnosis
- Pain
- Limitation in movement
Possible side effects of surgery include:
- Scar formation
- Seroma
- Hematoma
Recurrence is not common and may occur in less than 5% of cases.
Alternative treatment options include liposuction and subcutaneous deoxycholate injection.^[3]^[4]
