Mirror syndrome
Mirror syndrome is a rare disorder affecting pregnant women.
Its name reflects the fact that symptoms in the mother reflect symptoms in the fetus, and it presents significant risk to both.
Causes
Causes
It is caused by fetal symptoms related to fluid retention, including ascites (excess peritoneal fluid) and polyhydramnios (excess amniotic fluid). [1]
It can be associated with twin-to-twin transfusion syndrome.[2]
