  • Effective measures recommended by the American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP) for the primary prevention of neonatal jaundice include the following:[1]
    • Breastfeeding of the infants 8-12 times per day, inadequate breastfeeding leads to jaundice development
    • Avoidance of dextrose water supplementation of the breasfed infants
