Pneumoconiosis MRI

There are no MRI findings associated with pneumoconiosis but may be helpful to differentiate between other pathologies by using a T2W imaging sequence. It is preferred to CT scans in those patients who need to be repeatedly scanned as they would not be exposed to radiation. ^{[1] [2] [3]}

MRI can be helpful in the diagnosis of pneumoconiosis by excluding other pathologies. For example: ^{[4] [5]}

• MRIs can be helpful to differentiate the progressive massive fibrosis found in pneumoconiosis with lung cancer. Progressive massive fibrosis would show low signal intensity while lung cancer shows high signal intensity.
