- For the estimation of the severity of obstructive lung disease Pulmonary function test are required for the diagnosis and shows the following
- FEV1=Forced expiratory volume in 1 second
- It is the most commonly used index of airflow obstruction
- FVC= Forced vital capacity
- The ratio of FEV1.0 to forced vital capacity is reduced
- Increase inTLC= Total lung capacity, FRC= Functional residual capacity, and RV= Residual volume in obstructive airway diseases
- TLC=Total lung capacity is decreased in restrictive lung diseases
