It is important to ensure an adequate evaluation of the nasal cavity in patients with sinonasal conditions. Nasal endoscopy provides more detailed evaluation compared to anterior rhinoscopy/nasal examination with just a speculum or otoscope.

Diagnostic studies such as nasal endoscopy and rhinomanometry are sometimes indicated when a more detailed evaluation of the nasal cavity is required. Nasal endoscopy can also be utilized to take biopsy samples when a suspicious lesion is seen, and culture samples can be taken in cases of bacterial rhinosinusitis, thus guiding the decision on antibiotic treatment.[1]
- Nasal endoscopy: This is a very good technique for detecting sinonasal pathologies as well as anatomical variations that are not accessible on anterior rhinoscopy, and it should be considered in the early diagnosis of various sinonasal diseases to ensure a complete examination of the nose and sinuses.[2]
- Rhinomanometry: This can give an objective assessment of nasal congestion by measuring airflow obstruction in the upper airway. It is useful in the evaluation of nasal patency and clinical response to interventions.
