Functional endoscopic sinus surgery (FESS) is reserved for cases of chronic rhinosinusitis that do not respond to medical therapy. The efficacy of of surgery in managing rhinosinusitis is not well-established. However, patients with chronic rhinosinusitis associated with nasal polyposis reported symptomatic relief of obstruction and anosmia/hyposmia following surgery.[1][2]
