Short chain fatty acid

Short chain fatty acids are a sub-group of fatty acids with aliphatic tails of less than six carbons. They include:

• Acetic acid
• Propionic acid
• Isobutyric acid
• Butyric acid
• Isovaleric acid
• Valeric acid
• Caproic acid
• Lactic acid
• Succinic acid
