Overview
In medicine, stasis means the state in which the normal flow of a body liquid stops, for example the flow of blood through vessels or of intestinal contents through the digestive tract.

Stasis is one of three components of Virchow’s triad which describes the three broad categories of factors that are thought to contribute to thrombosis:
- Hypercoagulability
- Hemodynamic changes (stasis, turbulence)
- Endothelial injury/dysfunction
