Scintigraphy may be helpful in the confirmation of diagnosis of struma ovarii.

Other Imaging Findings

Scintigraphy may be helpful in the confirmation of diagnosis of struma ovarii. Scintigraphy scan done with iodine-123 or iodine-131 may be helpful in diagnosing a hyperfunctioning struma ovarii by evaluating the increased uptake of the radionuclide by the ovarian mass when compared to the thyroid gland. ^[1]
