Transthoracic needle aspiration

Overview

TTNA or transthoracic needle aspiration is a biopsy done to diagnose and stage cancer in the mediastinum. Approximately 10% of patients need a catheter placed for the evacuation of a pneumothorax.^[1] Patients that have this procedure generally have quite a bit of mediastinal involvement.
