Transverse myelitis was first discovered by Dr. Suchett-Kaye, an English neurologist at St. Charles Hospital in London, utilized the term âacute transverse myelitisâ in 1948. Cases of âacute myelitisâ have been described earlier as cases of âacute myelitisâ that have been described in association with or after infection and smallpox vaccination.
