Tremor primary prevention

Overview

There are no established measures for the primary prevention of majority of the underlying causes of tremor. However, tremor induced by stress, drugs, alcohol, caffeine, prolonged standing (orthostatic tremor) can be prevented by avoiding them.

Primary Prevention

There are no established measures for the primary prevention of majority of the underlying causes of tremor.

Effective measures for the primary prevention of Parkinson’s disease include^[1]:
- Pesticides, dairy products, β2-adrenoreceptor antagonists have shown to increase risk of developing Parkinson’s disease
- Smoking, caffeine, tea, physical activity, gout, vitamin E, non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs, β2-adrenoreceptor agonists have shown to reduce the risk of developing Parkinson’s disease.
Effective measures for the primary prevention of enhance physiologic tremor include:
- Manage stress
- Avoid drugs that cause tremor
- Limit alcohol
- Limit caffeine
Effective measures for the primary prevention of orthostatic tremor include:
- Avoid prolong standing
