Overview

Vacuum extraction (VE) is the use of a vacuum extractor during childbirth. Vacuum extraction is sometimes used when there is no progression during the second stage of labor. VE is an alternative to forceps extraction and caesarean section. The use of vacuum extraction can have negative effects on both the mother and the child.
