The electrophysiologic study is used for determining the location and number of accessory pathways, determining the mechanism of tachycardia, establishing the diagnosis in those patients with questionable resting EKG.

The purpose of these studies is to:
- Determine the location and number of accessory pathways.
- Determine the mechanism of tachycardia.
- To establish the diagnosis in those patients with questionable resting EKG.
- To evaluate the efficacy of drugs.
- To select patients for surgery and to evaluate them postoperatively.
