De Quervain's thyroiditis physical examination

Patients with de Quervain’s thyroiditis usually appear fatigued and restless. Physical examination of patients with de Quervain’s thyroiditis is usually remarkable for neck tenderness, tachycardia, and palpitations. In the recovery phase of de Quervain’s thyroiditis, the patient may show signs of hypothyroidism.

Patients with de Quervain’s thyroiditis usually have:

• Fatigue
• Restlessness

The patients usually have:

• Tachycardia

In the recovery phase patients may have:

• Bradycardia

The patients usually have:

• Erythematous and warm skin

In the recovery phase patients may have:

• Dry skin
• Coarse hair

The patients usually have:

• Flushed face

In the recovery phase patients may have:

• Puffy face

The patients usually have:

• Tender thyroid (unilateral or bilateral)

In the recovery phase patients may have:

• Enlarged thyroid gland or presence of small or shrunken thyroid gland

The patients usually have:

• Tachycardia

• Bradypnea

• Tremors
